The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Review

'A Fable about following your dream' as the tagline suggest, it’s a book that talks about dreams and why should you follow your dreams. I have been wanting to read The Alchemist since childhood quite obvious because of the great hype it has created and people do talk a lot about it. Now only I got a chance to grab it and read it, is it really a great book?? Lets see.

It is a story of a shepherd boy from Spanish province of Andalusia who dreams of travelling the world in search of treasure. He follows his heart and in his journey he meets several people, travels varied terrains where he meets the Alchemist. This forms the most of the story. It’s a book that has lot of hidden meanings

Positives

  • The whole theory is great, because it tells everything has a destiny and in your path to destiny , should be able to identify omens which eventually will lead you to it.
  • There are a lot of great lines which I think can be passed on to several generations, helps the book to get into next level. ( I will write another detailed blog on my favourite lines)
  • Its a small book.Easy to read for people who complain of not having time to read. Can be read in quick time.

Negatives

  • As I said earlier, its got lines of great meaning and passive reading won't help you.Its something more than the story and that is why few people  describe the book Overrated.

My Favourite lines

And when you want something all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it

The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world and never to forget drops of oil on spoon

Everyone seems to have  a clear idea how other people should lead their life but none about his or her own

THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI

Reading is one the greatest habits you can have..when you read you are actually having a conversation with the author, we actually become the characters described in the books. So we can choose which character we want to be in life. I was not a great reader during my childhood, not like the rich families who always insists that their children start reading at the time when they were born.My family is not like that. I remember myself struggling to cope up with Famous Five (which seems to be very easy) in 5th std..then I got on track in my 6th and 7th classes I met Harry Potter,Percy Jackson, Roald Dahl and his entertaining characters,Robin Sharma ,The greatest leadership expert whom I admire the most Its our decision to chose which book we have to read.I like motivational books ,one of which i'm here today... THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI BY ROBIN SHARMA Robin Sharma is a writer and a great leadership expert, who advises many companies. My life had been in a depressed ...

One book to be read in a lifetime.it best suits for those who watches thriller and mystery movies. I recommend to those who say that books cannot be as thrilling as movies. The plot goes like this, Ten strangers are invited to a little island by an unknown person.Upon their arrival at the island they understand that the host was not there. At dinner they receive a message which finds all of them guilty in some way and by next day one of them is dead. The murderer can be anyone, their fears escalated when they saw an old rhyme which indicates the death of everyone. Will anyone survive??? Positives Well structured : The story is well plotted and organised which leaves no doubt in the readers m...
